MMB: How Time Flies...

16th December 2019

Hello

This week last year, we picked up the keys to 2a Church Street. A year on and we could not be happier, more grateful or proud of how 2019 has panned out for Mini Miss Bread. And although there has been an awful lot of work going on behind the scenes, we are acutely aware that we would not be feeling as proud as we are today if it weren't for all of you. The encouragement and support you have offered, together with queueing in some pretty horrible weather conditions to pick up bread on a Saturday morning, has massively exceeded our wildest hopes and expectations. And it is as a result of this that we feel enthusiastic about what 2020 may bring. We have a few plans up our sleeves but, as 2019 has proved, we know there will be many surprises along the way. And we can't wait.

But before then, we have a few more days to get you all stocked up ahead of Christmas. And in fact (please don't hate us) we are taking three weeks off at Christmas so we want to get you stocked up to see you through the New Year and beyond.

Thank you to all of you that have placed orders for Fen Farm Dairy cheese and butter. These orders, together with pre-orders for wrapped Rugbrød and Saffron Grange wine, will be available for collection on Christmas Eve between 10am and 1pm. We will also have the shelves full of Walden Whites on Christmas Eve available on a first come, first served basis.

This week we are open as usual on Thursday and Friday from 10am. On Saturday we will be open from 10am and then also staying open for the afternoon for our Christmas Cracker Event, from midday. We will be welcoming Aimie from Saffron Grange to offer tastings of their beautiful sparkling wines (including their Sparkling Rosé and their Seyal Blanc Reserve alongside the Classic Cuvée we currently stock) with bottles available to purchase to take home on the day. Gabby from Shop at Seed Ceramics will be joining us for one final 'Pop Up' at MMB. She will be bringing an array of her ceramics so if you know someone that is a fan of her ceramics, or if you're simply starting to panic over that thoughtful gift that you have to buy a certain someone, then this could be your solution. Sally will be on hand making and baking fresh cinnamon buns (possibly including some with a festive nod) throughout the afternoon and, because it's Christmas, Jeff and I are going to get creative with canapés - sadly we haven't been invited to any Christmas shindigs this year so we just have to create our own. Sob. (To be fair, I think all our friends have given up asking us round for any form of social occasion as we are always either baking/preparing to bake and therefore heading to bed early...or asleep. To our wonderful friends, we apologise. Hopefully 2020 will see the return of a social life in locations other than 2a Church Street). We have various gifts, cards and stocking fillers to help with last minute panics and, if you're really lucky, we might even be in full on Christmas Carol mode. Once In Royal David's City opening solo? Don't worry, I've got it covered.

Due to popular demand, this week we are going to do one final run of the festive, tinned Rosinbrød loaf that we offered last week. It flew off the shelves and, being in a tin, it is superbly versatile for the holiday. Point in case - we discovered how well it worked for French Toast over the weekend. It's got Boxing Day breakfast written all over it, topped with a scoop of mascarpone cheese and fresh berries. And maybe a drizzle of maple syrup. Served with a buck's fizz. Boxing Day brunch sorted. You're welcome.

We will also have the regular suspects on the shelves together with buns and cookies on the counter. I do advise trying to get to us as early as possible as I know how many of you like to stock up when we're going to be closed and I imagine the shelves could empty pretty quickly on all three days. Likewise on Christmas Eve.

And then, come 1pm on Christmas Eve... well I won't be held responsible for any behaviour from any MMB cast members thereafter.

I will drop you all a quick line next Monday with a reminder about Christmas Eve collections but until then, thank you once again for being a part of our journey in 2019. We couldn't have done it without you.
